FICO Configuration- Company code & controlling area

Hi,

Can anyone be of assistance. I have just created a new company code and configured all the relevant GL codes etc. For some strange reason, each time I run transaction FB50 and others, the system notifies me that controlling area is not assigned to company code.

Because its a new configuration, I deactivated document splitting since I have not configured controlling as yet.

can some one help.?

How you have created company code? ( Through EC01( Copy) or manual creation)

Go to Tcode  SPRO.

SPRO ->sap refference img-> Enterprise structure -> Definition -> Financial Accounting -> Edit, copy, delete company code.

project name->(proj-demo)->sap enterprise structure->definition->financial accounting-> edit,copy ,delete, check company code.

Hi,

I think you tried to create company code and all configuration settings for New GL Activation . please Clear my doubt because classic Gl is used for Normal postings. you Pointed in your query that deactivation of Document splitting. This is done for classic Gl  Normal postings only.No need to create Controlling Area for normal postings.New GL configuration is used for different purpose . I hope you can get My point.

please give me clarification for which purpose you created  Company code settings i.e for New GL Activation or classic Gl  Normal postings .

Thanks for the quick response. I created the company code for normal GL postings. On the ECC5.0 server I did not have this issue but I am using ECC6.0 now. So are you suggesting the fact that New GL is already activated on the ECC6.0 server I am usuing is actually stopping me from testing the FB50 postings? Because normally , I should be able to configure the company code and post FI documents before proceeding to controlling which is what I want to do. With the classic GL , once document splitting is turned off, I am able to post FI document even before defining controlling area but this is not the case I am facing now with the ECC6.0 server. The system wants me to define controlling area and assign to company code before proceeding.
