Hi all,
We have WAS 6.20 and its J2ee Engine was giving us some errors when we tried to run it.So I uninstalled the J2EE engine. Now can anyone one suggest the steps that we need to be follow while re-installing the J2EE Engine and also is it possible to install the latest version of WAS without causing any damage to the present system. If it is possible kindly suggest us the procedure.
Thanks and Regards,
vijayasai
Hi Vijayasai,
Yes you can install latest version of WAS instead of WAS 6.20. It won't affect your present system.
You can find the installables for this from service.sap.com site. The installation of WAS 6.40 is not a big headche. You need few clicks for that. You also get the installation guide from service.sap.com site.

Hi Bhavik,
Thanks for your reply.I wanted to know couple of more things from you.
1.Our CRM System is SP03 do u think upgrading to WAS6.40 will be an issue at this service pack level.
2.We have come across a huge guide for upgrading to 6.40 and from ur reply we see that it is very simple process can u please help us little more on this.
Regards,
Vijaya sai.
Hi Vijayasai,
I want to ask one thing.
You have CRM system SP03 means you have both ABAP stack and JAVA stack right.
So, if you have uninstalled your JAVA stack then it doesn't mean that you have uninstalled WAS server.
So, better thing is uninstall this server and install fresh instance.
For installing server follow the links Ramakrishna Venkat has mentioned.

Bhavik

Hi RK,
Thanks for your reply,I want some clarification on couple of more Issues.
1.I have uninstalled the J2EE Engine in our present system does that mean I have uninstalled WAS completely?
2.Our CRM System is SP03 and if we upgrade the WAS will we have any issues for this service pack.
Regards,
Vijayasai
Hi,
1) You Uninstalled J2EE enginee means, you uninstalled WAS completely.
2)WAS 6.40 SP11/12 you can install afresh, coming to CRM either you can upgrade sp03 to latest version if you feel tedious, reinstall CRM also to latest SP which is in synch with WAS.
One thing is sure if you uninstall WAS/J2EE engine 6.20 there won't be any impressions on fresh installation of 6.40.
(are you sure WAS 6.20 supports both Java and ABAP Stack)
Regards,
RK
