Product allocation-Process

Hi to all,

Please clarify how GATP is related with Demand Planning and how the allocation process happens in GATP? Do we setup and process or manually we do allocation to particulars customers based on stock?

Hi Ronald,

For the configuration part you can refer to SAP help, rest practically few points are mentioned below for your understanding.

Allocation process is controlled by planning area related config on DP side and allocation group and procedure etc. config. on GATP side, then you need to map planning area to allocation group.

so here we don't need to control the allocation process manually, it is controlled based on config on GATP and values put in planning book against required characteristics.

Suppose business wants to put allocation values for customer and material combination.

On DP side your need to have customer and material as characteristics and forecast values needs to be fatched from ECC or as per business requirement.

Now this forecast value need to be passed to GATP planning area against required key figures and characteristics (it is always benificial to have a cube in between).

On GATP side when you have the values from DP, rest of the process is controlled through GATP config. where you map allocation group characteristics to planning area characteristics to get incoming order values updated in plannig book in real time.

On how to reach on allocation values, generally business takes decision based on capacity business has and the other things like customer - material combination priorities.
