Hi Fran,

If the ODS in question sis already installed, you cannot install a duplicate copy of it. But if you need the same structure for some testing, you can create a new ODS and use the original BC ODS as a "copy from" while creating the new ODS. It is perfectly ok to map the update rules on the same InfoSource as the BC ODS is using.

Hope this helps...

So we can use the same datasource/transfer rules that someone else is using also? or do we have to copy that as well?

Hi Fran,

You can use the same data flow: DataSource > Transfer Rules > InfoSource. Then you will have the update rules to your new ODS. Be sure not to chnage any mapping in the transfer rules, else the other ODS will also be affected.

Hope this helps...

Bhanu, thanks for the help. So when I copy an existing ODS or Cube, the infoobjects will also get copied. I dont have to create copies of BC InfoObjects right??

No you do not need to make copies of hte business content InfoObjects. Actually when you create your new ODS as a Copy From the BC ODS, the InfoObjects do not get copied. The same InfoObjects can be reused in multiple data targets without any issue. In fact creating copies will not let you link up different business applications either...imagine if you had 10 different InfoObjects for CostCenter, all of them the same, yet you cannot relate each to the other. In short, don't worry and just go ahead and create your ODS.

Hope this helps...

yes..you dont need to copy any infoobjectgs seperatly... they will autopmatically get activated while installing business content
