Difference between Consolidation Script and the Consolidation Monitor

Dear all,

what is the difference between the consolidation executed via the data manger package and the consolidation executed via the consolidation monitor.

I know the consolidation monitor runs a ABAP code for consolidation, but how does the code looks like?

We are working with SAP BPC 10.0 for NetWeaver.
