Hello,
I need to export the data in staging area to excel sheet.
How can i do it.
Regards
Rama
Hi Rama,
Can u tell me which type of data or from which screen you want to export?

You cannot write to Excel documents directly with Data Services, the easiest way will be to write to a CSV file. To do this define a flat file format.
It is possible to write to Excel via ODBC.

Hi,
In the Local object Library you will find formats tab.
Right click in the Excel workbooks-->New-->Provide the sheet name,Directory,File name and the Fields in the target and Save.
Drag into the work area (Keep it as target) and map the staging to excel output.
I think it works fine.

Hi Rama,
Michel's first answer is correct. You can easily verify this by looking at the windows help file:
Designer -> Help -> Technical Manual - search for Excel. You will find:
Excel workbook format
Description
An Excel workbook format describes the structure defined in an Excel workbook (denoted with a .xls extension). You store format templates for Excel data ranges in the object library. You use the template to define the format of a particular source in a data flow.
SAP BusinessObjects Data Services accesses Excel workbooks as sources only (not as targets).

Norbert
P.S
- Micheal's second answer is not refering to his previous post as it could seem, but to the one above...and should have been a "reply" to that one.
- Local Object Library - although you don't need the info here..are simply all the objects in your designer on the left bottom - the ones you drag and drop into the job. If you see the title of that box it is Local Object Library.
