Hi Denis,
Thanks for replying. Actually i'm searching a folder in side CMC, that I can view by logging into CMC. I want to know where this folder is located in SAP BO server, means SAP BO was installed on top of windows 2008. There we have a folder called SAP business objects 12.0. There I'm searching that folder. Actually in CMC view there was a folder called "PRD". We have lost that folder from CMC. By mistakenly one user have deleted it. Unfortunately we doesn't have any backup of SAP BO server. So what i'm trying to do is recover the folders in SAP BO side and replaced it. There for I want to know where these folders stores in SAP BO server side. Not in Client side. I think know you have clear idea about my question. Can you help me Denis? Is any alternatives that you suggestions?
Thanks,

Nimesha..
Hi Nimesha,
Follow are the points, you need to understand first.
Folders in CMC are Logical and has a ID e.g. SI_ID and SI_CUID and it is stored in CMS Database as a Logical Entry.
Universes and Reports Objects have both Logical and physical Entry in BO. i.e. It is stored in CMS Database with a SI_ID and SI_CUID but it has a phisical file alocated to its entry and it is also called as SI_FIles property for that perticular Universe or Report Object. In my reply above you will find the file and path of UNV file (Universe Object) in the filestore. This property of the Universe will tell you that it has a lofical entry in the CMS Database with a SI_ID, SI_CUID entry as well as a physical file mentioned on the same page.
But if you go to the properties of any of the file, you will not find any location because it is just a logical entruy in the CMS Database.
Note: Universe and Report Entries in CMS DB are related to thier respective Folder with SI_Parent_Folder property of the Univer or Report.

Hi Kumar,
Thanks Kumar. Great explanation. But my issue is this, actually I'm searching a folder in side CMC, that I can view by logging into CMC. I want to know where this folder is located in SAP BO server, means SAP BO was installed on top of windows 2008. There we have a folder called SAP business objects 12.0. There I'm searching that folder. Actually in CMC view, there was a folder called "PRD". We have lost that folder from CMC. By mistakenly one user have deleted it. Unfortunately we doesn't have any backup also. So what I'm trying to do is to recover this folder in SAP BO side and replaced it. There for I want to know where these folders are store in SAP BO server side. Not in Client side. I don't know where it is possible or not. I think know you have clear idea about my issue. Can you help me Denis? Is any alternatives that you suggestions?
Thanks,

Hi Nimesha,
BO Folders in CMC e.g. PRD are just Logical entries in CMS DB and if it is deleted then It is not there in CMS DB anymore. You will not find it anywhere on the BO Server BOX installation Folder.
It is a very unfortunate event. If you do not have the Backup of the CMS DB and the File Store of before the Folder was deleted OR Biar back of the folder, you will not be able to recover it.
Moreover, if you have any other environment e.g. DEV ,TEST ,UAT ,PROD etc. where you have a similar folder then you may migrate the "PRD" folder from there. If there is no such environment then there are no chances to recover it.
As a better practice, you may deny delete objects rights for the Users.

Hi Kumar,
Thanks for replying.Your BO version is BO XI 4.0 but mine is BO XI 3.1. Popup screens are not as much similar when comparing with 4.0. Actually Kumar I'm searching the folder location. Not the universe location. I want to find the webi universe folder location. not the location of universes that it contains. Anyway can you help me this out to find out the correct path?
Thanks,

Nimesha..
Hi Nimesha,
You can follow the steps below to get the Folders location
1. Check the root directory for Input File Repository Server in CMC by going to File Repositroy server and its properties.
2.Once you get the root directory of the Input File Repository Server you can look for the folder of the ID number given in the properties of Universe/Webi Universe Folder in CMC at the root directory location.
3. For example Your Input File Repository Server is located on BO server at C:\Input File
Your Universe Folder ID is 100
Your Webi Universe Folder ID is 1001
Then logically you will get the folder and their contents in the below location
C:\Input File\100\1001
Here you may see subfolders with different ID or the universes you have in that folder.
Let me know if it helps
Thanks,
Swati

Hi Swati,
Thanks for replying. Actually my universe folder ID is 115, Webi Universe folder ID is 1095. I have checked BO server C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\FileStore\Input location. There I can view folder that starts from "a_";
please refer following image. These are the folders that I can find in side BusinessObjectsEnterprise 12.0.
Can you please guide me which folder I have to check.
Thanks,
Regards,
Nimesha.
folders you see inside CMC/BILaunchpad do not phisycaly exist, they are objects in the metadata.
Please review Admin guide on clarification of how BO architecture and repositories are organized.
