ECC 6 with EHP6 installation based on NW 7.0 with EHP3

Hello all,

We would like to install ECC6 including EHP6.0 ABAP based only, i went through its master guide which says it should be install based on SAP NW 7.0 including EHP3 (linux + oracle). But when i am seraching in installation and upgrade guide area on portal i didn't find it. Infact in software catalog as well, i didn't find it although i found SAP NW 7.0, 7.0 with EHP1 and with EHP2, NW 7.3, NW 7.3 with EHP1.

Does anybody has information about the installation guide and installation media for NW 7.0 including EHP3?

If we go and install SAP NW 7.3 with EHP3 ABAP only, the latest version, what ECC version it should reflect? Is there any conjunction between ECC6(any version..) and NW 7.3 with EHP3? Currently we are implementing FICO module.

I'll really appreciate your inputs.

Hi Vikas,

You dont have to install Netweaver 7.03 ABAP Stack first for installing ECC 6.0 EHP6, when you install ECC 6.0 EHP6 Netweaver 7.03 will be automatically installed.

You can will both Installation Guides and Installation media in Service Market place.

For Installation media naviagate through below path

For Installation Guide navigate through below path

Thanks Ajay for providing the accurate path. But still there is a confusion:

We have to install ERP6 including EHP6 on RHEL6.3 x86_64 with Oracle 11.2.0.3 as a database, but when i see the installation media for for ERP6 including EHP6, it shows the following material:

SAP ERP6 EHP6 components

SAP ERP6 EHP6 installation export Part 1 -8

SAP Enh, Packages 6 for ERP 6 Part 1- 6

SAP ERP6 EHP6 Language Part 1 - 12

BS7i2011 Installation master Linux

are these enough? Where is db and kernel? If these are enough what is correct sequence to install? We have distributed system where CI on another system and db on other system.

On the other hand if i see in NW 7.0 with EHP3 i can see all inst media including db, is that mean i need to follow 7.0 with ehp3 installation media for db and kernel? Please suggest.

Download DB and Kernel from Netweaver 7.0 EHP3 media list.

Once you have all ERP 6 EHP6 media and NW 7.0 EHP3 kernel and DB, you can start installation in sequence followed for previous installations.

Hello,

We are doing installation ECC6 including EHP6 (based on NW 7.0
including EHP3) for development system in homogenious distributed
environment.

OS: RHEL 6.3 Oracle 11.2.0.3

Since we are installing in distributed environment, as following by
master guide we prepared global host on the same server where CI needs
to be installed, then mounted those directories(exe, global and
profile) on the db host. Then installed db instance including Oracle
with Runinstaller successfully. Now installing CI, while executing it
stopped at start instance phase and throws an error

"An error occurred while processing option Enhancement Package 6 for
SAP ERP 6.0 > SAP Application Server ABAP > Oracle > Distributed System
> Central Instance ( Last error reported by the step: Instance
RD1/DVEBMGS00 reached state SHUTDOWN after having state STARTING.
Giving up.)."

while looking into the log files like dev_w0 and dev_disp it says
Invalid profile parameter dbms/type (or invalid environment variable
dbms_type)= undefined, can't load db library.

where we have already set dbms_type=ORA as environment variable, still
sapinst is not able to run further, still many process needs to
complete for installation point of view.

Could you please help how to resolve this issue to complete the
installation?

By the way, the installation media what we used to install the ECC6
with EHP 6 is as follows:

BS7i2011 Installation Master Linux on x86_64 64bit: 51042263_8
NW703 UC-Kernel 720_EXT Linux on x86_64 64bit : 51041987_8
and SL controller 700 51041987_9
SAP ERP6 EHP6 installation Export: 51041989_ to 51041989_8
oracle client 11.2.0.3: 51041940
Oracle RDMS 11.2.0.3 Linux x86_64 64 bit: 51041939_1 to 51041939_6.

Kindly let me know if we chosen wrong file either, so what will be the
corrective action else let us know how to solve this issue.

Hi Vikas,

Please check the value of parameter dbms/type in DEFAULT.PFL file , which can be found in the path /usr/sap/SID/SYS/profile on host where you are trying to install CI instance.

If it is not there add it as dbms/type = ora.

Hi Ajay,

How to edit DEFAULT.pfl in linux? I didnt find this parameter there... but i have exported environment variable dbms_type=ora in linux. after changing in default profile too, do i need to reboot the server?

Hi Vikas,

Use Vi editor to edit DEFAULT.pfl file.

There is no need to reboot the server, if you get same error after adding the profile parameter try again after rebooting the server.

Hi Ajay,

still the problem exists but this time in dev_w0 says connect failed with SQL "2154"

OCIServerAttach(OCI_DEFAULT) failed with SQL error 12154:

ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified

Please suggest.

Check that the net service name used as the connect identifier exists in the TNSNAMES.ORA file and correct.

Hello Guys,

I have installed ABAP stack SAP ECC6 with EHP6 based on NW 7 including EHP3 successfully on distributed environment Linux x86_64 and Oracle 11.2.0.3.0. Now i am performing Post installation tasks where i need to install and update latest support packs.

Will someone help me to give structured steps to configure new ECC 6 system in existing solution manager and vice versa, to use mopz to calculate and download the support packs?

Do we need to configur SLD as well with tcode sldapicust in ABAP system? What are the actual steps apart from this tcode.

Hi Vikas,

Please follow the below steps, If you are using the Solution Manager 7.1.

• Perform the basic post installation steps
• Apply the STPI patches for ECC.
• Execute RZ70 in ECC to get the system details in Solman SLD.
• Generate the RFC connections to ECC from Solman System > Solman_setup > Managed system configurations > Configure the system.
• Once RFC is green in managed system configurations, then you can use the MOPZ from Solman_workcenter.

I didn't find it in Installation guide, anywhere, what is the exact procedure and how to find which are the suitable STPI paches for our system?

Hi Ajay,

I was applying RZ70 sld data collection due to usage of solman, so that the new installed system will be configured in solman and then i'll apply support pack with the help of solman.

Since you are suggesting STPI patches first and then this note, does it mean we can download STPI directly with out MOPZ? If yes how?

By the way my post installation tasks is as follows, please correct if something is wrong there..

1. update SAP kernel

2. logon to the new system, Sick

3. Install SAP license,

4. LDAPAPICUST tcode and maintain connection with solman

5. Update company

6. RZ70 data collection program <<<< Before it i'll apply that note

7. Configure technical system in solman, and do the maintainance transaction through mopz

8. other post installation tasks(profile maintenance, client creation, language packs etc.)

9. Once all support packs and stpi patches downloaded through solman, apply in system followed by SPAM/SAINT update.

10. Oracle post installation tasks

if it is wrong kindly advice how to proceed for post installation.

I got ORA-00933 error in RZ70 while running data collection job.

This issue was resolved by applying note: 1607420.

Hi Kalra,

You're right, there is a confusion on this subject. Check my blog on it via

ERP version is independant from the underlying NetWeaver AS ABAP version. So, you can install ERP 6.0 EHP6 on NW 7.0 EHP3 or on NW 7.3 EHP1 (THere is no NW 7.3 EHP3 yet )

Yes, you are right.

Netweaver 7.0 EHP3 contains 731 BASIS,ABA Software Components.

have u done support packages update in EHP6 because while updating SAP_BASIS am getting the problem its hang for longtime at pahse import and i didnt find any logfile because its still running i have tired so many times can you plz tell me is there any prerequisites to do before update the Supoort packs in EHP6.
