Minimum Certificate key length Windows path stops the working of Crystal reports in SAP Crystal Reports

After applying the MicroSoft Security patch KB2661254, Crystal reports is not running. This particular patch is related to minimum certificate key length (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2661254).

After removing this patch, crystals starting running to success.

How this particular Windows patch (minimum certificate key length (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2661254))  might have possibly affected Crystal?

I am having Crystal Reports version 9.2.0.4485.

Hello,

Version 9 is quite old and no longer supported. When Microsoft changes the rules and it breaks legacy software your only option is to upgrade CR also.

To debug this you could use Fiddler to see what it's doing, nothing we can do to patch CR 9 as it's end of life so no more patches.

Hi Don,

Thanks for the reply.

I have some questions related to this.

1) How that particular Windows patch (minimum certificate key length (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2661254)) might have possibly affected Crystal?

2) Does Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 uses more secure RSA certificate keys that our current version of Crystal does (9.2.0.4485) ?

3) If we upgrade to Crystal 2008 SP3, will this problem get resolved?

- Unknown. But apparently it does. SAP wil not do any testing on this as the product has been out of support for years.

- More than likely. I run CR 2008 with no problems and I ma sure IT has pushed out the above. You can download an eval of CR 2008 and try your self. However, I would recommend going to the latest version of CR; CR 2011

CR 2008 eval link:

CR 2011 eval link:
