For example:
We have two dimensions that is length and dia. of the product. There is a third dimension whose value depends on the values of length and dia. In this case, variant table can be maintained with all possible values of these three dimensions. This acts similar to the master data.
You will not have to write complex code in the object dependency. In the OD, you simply refer the variant table and for a combination of length and dia., fetch the value of third dimension. One of the benefit to the user is, he can always change the variant table as per the business requirements.
