Design Studio - Error while connecting to BIP SP5

Hello Experts,

I have installed BIP SP5 in my local machine and also installed server component of Design studio.

I launched Design studio and gave the BIP Credentials ( Enterprise Authentication)

For Webservice URL , I give the default URL - http://localhost:8080/dswsbobje/services/Session.

On Clicking OK - i get the error LOGON Failed - Bad Port Number in CMS name : For input String: "".

I have attached screenshot for the same for your reference.

On checking the url - http://localhost:8080/dswsbobje/services/Session. in browser, I got the following message :

<Please enable REST support in WEB-INF/conf/axis2.xml and WEB-INF/web.xml>.

I then went  to the axis2.xml file and updated the REST Support to true, as per link - https://scn.sap.com/message/7101744.

Restarted the System after this change and checked again, but get the same issue even after this.

I’m able to logon to Launchpad and CMS without any problem.

Any pointers on this is highly appreciated.

Hi Everyone,

I get exactly the same error on a standalone installation Win 7 Pro. 64 bit with SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform and Client SP 5 Patch 4. It seems to be a problem with the combination of 32 and 64 bit components on the same machine (but thats a guess until I get a dev environment, waiting for hardware)

Query as a Web Service - fine;

Installation - CMC, BI, etc... fine;

Web Intelligence... fine;

LiveOffice - fine;

Crystal Reports - Login Exception (WSE 99998) - when I looked CMS name "" in the log (if I launch Crystal via the BI Platform it connects fine);

Design Studio - Login Exception (Bad port number in CMS Name : For input string: "").

There appears to be common classes between the two tools which are finding a empty string for the CMS name even though it is entered.

Hi,

The message which you are getting while navigating the URL http://localhost:8080/dswsbobje/services/Session in browser is fine.Even I am getting the same message but Design Studio gets logged in without any issues.

Similar Error was mentioned here http://scn.sap.com/thread/1272478 but for different tool(CR).

Can you check the same in your case whether the port number is assigned properly.

HI Murali,

THe CMS is assigned to the port 6400,

I just re-confirmed this by logging onto CMC again,screenshot attached.

Hi Vinay,

This looks something strange.I also checked some of the SAP notes for Design Studio,but nothing talks about this kind of issue.Did you try with any BI Platform other than the localhost.

Perhaps you can raise a support ticket for this,if your system has no issues with configuration.
