Car service centre ( Scenario SAP PM or SAP CS)

Hi SAP gurus ,

Need to know if the scenarios listed below are PM or CS module related or is there a possibility to map all these scenarios to one singe module . May be CS alone , will help us have 1 less module .

This scenario is for a Major Car Service Centre/dealer who services and repairs cars .

1)   

T    1) They service, repair and do inspections for Cars owned by them (Service centre). Example Cars for Test drive and Cars leased out to their own employees.

Service is done , then Cost is captures and posted to their own cost centres. (Module =SAP Plant Maintenance)

2)   2)  They service, repair and do inspections for cars that are owned by any one   ( Mr X , Mr Y , Mr Z).  The owner of the car calls up , takes a appointment , brings in the car and gets repaired .The service centre  does not monitor car  service that is due . The car owners know when it needs to be serviced .

Serice is done , then Invoice is generated and revenue is posted.  ( Module=SAP Customer service )

3)   3)  Repair Cars under service warranty and claim the money from car manufacturer

Repair is done , then Invoice is generated for the car manufacturer (Module= SAP Customer service)

This solution is covering theDealer Scenarios for Service and Selling of cars

This solution is specially dedicated to the market requirements within a Automotive dealer enviroment

Thank you for all the information provided .

Peter @ Yes ,you are correct , the users will only be able to see the CS menu.

Stephan @ We are trying to avoid IS solution , reason being additional cost and this is a medium sized  Service centre which caters to servicing 15 cars per day .

Maheshwaran @ Will try a Prototype / Proof of concept using standard PM/CS solution provided by SAP.

Your assumptions are correct.

With question 3, is the warranty for customer-owned vehicles, or do they belong to your company?

In the 3rd question , The warranty is for customer-owned vehicles .

Maheshwaran @ I fully agree with you , PM is for internal assets & CS is for external or customer's assets.

I accept that PM and CS would be required to full fill the  requirements .

Hope we keep it to plain vanilla SAP " Keep it simple and keep it right"

Try with the standard solution provided by SAP. Whenever you feel some modification required, you can adapt that changes & you can proceed.

You should be able to create all your order types (PM/CS) and use them under the SAP standard Customer Service menu.

So as far as the user is concerned they'll be using CS only.

As per my knowledge, PM is for internal assets & CS is for external or customer's assets. Both are same as SAP even though as a business its 2 different.

Here you need to create 3 order types. Internal service will be settled to own cost center. The other 2 order types will be converted in to Billing request using DIP profile.

But whatever bifurcation you gave is appropriate for that module.

ETM will cover the process of equipment rental business.

The bifurcation provided by you in mention scenario is correct. However there is one more option of ETM module. I am not sure how ETM module work or it will cover both scenario or not.
