Convert Date/Time to UTC for Daylight Savings Time

1118 Views

I am unclear as to what the additional phrase "DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME dst" does in the "CONVERT DATE" statement.

Right now our servers are on Standard Time. However this statement:

CONVERT DATE sy-datum TIME sy-uzeit DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME 'X'
INTO TIME STAMP lv_timestamp TIME ZONE 'EST '.

Gives a return code of 12 and 0 in lv_timestamp.

However this statement

CONVERT DATE sy-datum TIME sy-uzeit DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ' '
INTO TIME STAMP lv_timestamp TIME ZONE 'EST '.

Gives a return code of 0 and the value in lv_timestamp is the timestamp in UTC.

Once our SAP servers are set to DST, what will the two statements above return in lv_timestamp?
