Background Filter vs setItem in dropdown in script

Hi All, I have used a filter on a dimension in inital view and getting only 5 values out of 10.  now i populate drop down filter in script using set item on same dimension, but it brings all 10 values where i expect only 5 as i used background filter on this dimension to get only 5 not 10

Can i populate my drop down for dimension using some filter?

Hi,

Your point is valid that the drop down should list only 5 values as the dimension is already filtered in Background filter of Initial View. But the filtered applied in background filter only reflects in case of Crosstab and Chart items and not for Drop down,Radio button and so on.

I am not sure whether this is made intentionally or a limitation.

Did you try this http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-33798 ,"may" be you can change a little to get your requirement.

Hi  Murali, i have seen this cascading option, but i want to load only certain values even all of them meet my criteria.  If i want my first filter to load master data and there are some dummy values in my master data and i don't want those ,, i have no way to do that 😞
