Tried to update ODS through Delta extraction, when I went to monitor, first it was showing as yellow "Processing/warning". So I left it there and checked again this morning. Light is RED and no records updated. Can anyone help?

No Short Dump exists, as i checked through st22. I've never used sm21 before, I checked that also, I see one error but I dont think its mine. It couldnt haven been wrong data cuz deltas have been performing regularly before through the same extractor. Is it possible that someone in the tech team cancelled the job ???

Hi,

If you feel that the job was cancelled ,You can verify it in SM37 in source system. It is posible to csncel the job in source system.

Anil, thanks for the help.

The strange thing is in SM37, I see nothing. Is it becuase I'm checking on the BW side? Do I have to go into R/3 and check there?

Second question, even if it was cancelled, Why would they cancel it? Something i'm not doing right while extracting??? Please give some input, thanks

Hi Fran,

To check the data load job, you would have to go to SM37 in your source system. The job name starts with BI_REQU* where REQU is the name of your request. You can get this from the data load monitor.

Sometimes the system itself cancels the job like for memory issues. It is not necessary that some person cancelled it. The job log will be able to tell you.

Hope this helps...

the time it takes depends on the number of records and many other factors such as system load. how long was the default time set for loading. why did you have to change the QM status manually, that might effect your delta.

As you mentioned it is a delta load, it should not take much time, unless there are unexpected number of records.

I'm not trying to change the QM status status manually. it is set to change automatically. But its taking too long. As far as I know only two new records were created. Just cant figure out why its taking so long. Also, while the light is yellow, it still shows (0 from 0 records updated)

HI,

Any time if u got message like Sending packages from OLTP to BW leads to error... u have to wait for the job to finish first.. It comes when there is some Communication problem with the source system. So wait upto the load to finish..

Hope it helps..

Genreally, how long should you wait for the job to finish while updating an ODS. My ODS is configured to activate the quaility status and activate data automatically.

thanks

Fran,

May be no one cancelled the job, it turns RED if it cannot process in some specified time. There could be many reasons. Give more details of error or messages in monitor. The reason could be anywhere from connection b/w the systems to simple bad data. I am not sure if this is the only load you are doing, but do check the RFC connections. More information will let others understand better and respond.

Followins is the status of the request, I got this while monitoring the load:

Sending packages from OLTP to BW lead to errors

Diagnosis

No IDocs could be sent to the SAP BW using RFC.

System response

There are IDocs in the source system ALE outbox that did not arrive in the ALE inbox of the SAP BW.

Further analysis:

Check the TRFC log.

You can get to this log using the wizard or the menu path "Environment -> Transact. RFC -> In source system".

Removing errors:

If the TRFC is incorrect, check whether the source system is completely connected to the SAP BW. Check especially the authorizations of the background user in the source system.

Thats all techincal information.

Did u check the RFC connection? RSA1->Source System->your R/3... right click -> check

Are you loading any other data successfully?

Yes, I checked the source system connection also, It is OK. The new development is that while i was monitoring, the light changed to Yellow and then I manually activated the QM status. still it shows that it's processing the request. So far, 0 records have been updated. I still cant understand whats going on.

Fran,

Are you sure you are not able to see any dump?

Because dump mesg can give you better idea to solve your problem.

And you cannt manually activate your request unless your load is successfull.

Try deleting that request and upload again and check if you get same error again.
