Sales Analysis report by Employee(Details) little bit funky

Hi,

On the Sales Analysis Report, the GM on invoice 5818 is showing up as 112% vs. 12%. If you look at the document itself it showing 12% only. Any idea why?

    Hi,

It is because the first report show what is saved in the system. However, the second report can be on what-if scenario to base on different price to calculate.

    Thanks,

    Gordon

    Hi Arman

As Gordon indicated, the cost can be different as the cost used for the document could be based on something other than the item cost, or the item cost could change from the time an Order is created, till the time it is Delivered or Invoiced. The Sales Analysis Reports use the GrossBuyPrc column on the documents, whilst the Delivery/Invoice will post to the General Ledger based on the actual cost at the exact moment it is posted.

Thus the GP on the Sales Analysis Report is indicative and not necessarily the actual cost applied in the financial transaction or material movement in the warehouse.

    Hope this helps clarify.

    Kind regards

      Hi Arman

While I am thinking about this issue, the best thing to do to prevent issues with costing and GP's is to block users from entering their own base cost on the Gross Profit screen. This eliminates the cost being changed and forces the cost applied to be the cost at that point in time. However, timing differences will result in costs being different, although this should be marginal if users are not allowed to change them.

      Kind regards
