MDM 5.5 Connector?

One of the recent blogs on MDM 5.5 discussed the MDM 'Connector', which offered the same sort of functionality that JDBC does for Oracle databases with respect to obtaining connections. I guess it's something like a DataSource type object.

Where can one find more information on this 'connector'?

It's frustrating when SAP dangles a potentially useful piece of software in front of you, then doesn't tell you when it will be available, and/or where to get it....
