Dear All,

Good Morning....

I need all your suggestion and inputs for below scenario we are going to implement in our organization.

We have BW Quality system which is connected to ECC quality system . Lets say BW client is 400 and ECC client is 330 as of now.

Now we are going to move ahead and want to connect one more ECC system with same BW system. lets say New ECC client is 360 and that is going to connect with BW 400 only. At the same time the old ECC system ( client 330) is also be there.

I would like to know about all steps we need to perform , pre-process activities , etc.. in BW and ECC new and old client.

Please suggest.

Regards,

Macwan James.

Hi Jamess,

I hope we have enough information for procedure source system change already. One thing i would like to add Regarding source system after change make sure that RSBASIDOC table is consistent across ECC and BW system.

Also in any source system based issue either system copy or new source system connectivity check this SAP note

Note 886102 : System Landscape Copy

Check this SAP note, This can be used as reference for all source system connectivity issues.

1478123 : FAQ: Source system.

If you have any doubts on the FAQ source system note, do get back.

These two note will help in majority of source system related issues.

Hi James

Pre-requisites:

- make sure no one logs into BW system or performing any kind of activity.

- Stop all the background jobs.

1)

- Take backup of previous client for safety purpose.

-> rsa1 -transport connection ->select grouping ->save for system copy -> drag the source system in the collection area.-> create transport request for the collected objects

2) Create RFC for the new client using SM59 transaction.

3) run the BDSL test job to find any errors are there and correct the errors and later once all errors are fixed execute original run.

4) After the original run logoff from the BW and relogin to adjust the RFC source system.

5) check the source system.

Hi,

Scenario 1: If you want both ECC clients to be connected to BW at a time

Step 1: You need to establish RFC connection between your new Client and BW system in SM59

Step 2: In RSA1, under Tools Menu Bar-->Conversion of Logical System Names(Transport Path) and Assimt. of Source System Ids

You need to replicate all your datasources from new client to BW system and create new Transformations, DTPs and Infopackages.

Scenario 2: If you just want to change/replace the existing ECC client to a new Client without disturbing BW system data flow http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-11776
