Branch with Income Statement & Balance Sheet

As Business Areas are gradually going away, so they should not be an option to be created as a branch of a legal entity. How else can a foreign branch of a legal entity (company code) be setup in ECC 5.0, and that branch should be able to produce balance sheet and income statement for statutory reporting. Please give your thoughts.
