how to monitor and set alert when a JAVA node is down (PI)

Hi,

in our SAP PI dual stack setup, we have 2 JAVA nodes for each server. On occasion, one of the nodes would just stop. This is easily remedied with a restart. However, is there a way for us to be more proactve about this? A way to check/alert/monitor when a node has gone down? We have alerting in messages, and when we start to see an increase in errors, this prompts us to have a look. Am wanting to hear if there are other alternatives.

The only thing I have found so far is

http://<host>:<port>mdt/General?sap-nodeid=123456

But, regardless of what nodeid you put in, a web page still comes up.

Thanks.

My inquiry is not about message level alerting but NODE based.

No, have not found any monitoring on NODE level. Normally my message level alerts go crazy intermittent and, then one of the possible things that could be wrong is when a node is down.
