In PI Receive Idoc from ECC system, without configuring IDX1 Port & SM59 Rfc destination in PI

Hi Experts,

Is it possible in SAP-PI(receiver system) to "Receive Idoc from SAP-ECC(sender system) system without configuring IDX1 Port & SM59 Rfc destination in SAP-PI(receiver system)"?

Because I configured Sender Idoc Adapter & business system with adapter specific configurations.

But I have not configured Idx1, Idx2 & SM59 in SAP-PI(receiver system). but I have configured SM59 in SAP-ECC(Sender system & all other ALE configuration.

But during testing in SAP-PI(receiver system) SM21 logs showing configuring IDX1 & SM58 RFC connection in mandatory in SAP-PI(receiver system) pointing to SAP-ECC(sender system)?

If it is possible please guide how?

Regards

Hi Rohan,

I dont think you can skip these configurations in SAP PI system.

Please search in SDN for lot of documents for Outbound ALE settings to send IDocs from SAP ECC to PI.

yes I have done this configurations many time. I was wondering if we can skip IDX1 & SM59 in PI to receive Idoc from ECC. Because we have such security requirement.

Because network A can send message to network B

but network B can not send message to network A because of security firewalls.

network A has ECC

network B has PI.

Hi Rohan,

Please check the below to publish IDoc as a Webservice.

This is possible Rohan. A similar approach to what Nabendu has referenced...

It would IDOC XML Lover HTTP posted directly to the PI Integration engine. I've done this before and you can still make use of IDOC packaging & all async communication. This worked like a dream for mass master data replication so it proved pretty reliable too.

Thanks for reply Nabendu & Trevor.

But can we do it if ECC is sender & PI is receiver(i.e ECC to PI).

Because Weblog above mentioning opposite flow of Idoc PI to ECC.

Hi Rohan,

Yes, it can be done from ECC to PI.

Check if you can access this guide:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/99185140/Integrating-SRM-and-Sourcing#outer_page_40

Look at pages 40 & 41. It breaks down the steps necessary in ECC to achieve this replicating the MATMAS IDOC from ECC to PI as an example.
