Query on batch search strategy

Hi gurus,

I have one small query.

We have batch search strategy defined at inventory management level ( It is defined at plant level) and also at process order type level.

Now when i do the batch determination in process order, it does the batch determination as per the strategy defined for the process order type.

My question is "What is the use of the batch search strategy defined at inventory management level?"
