Query on batch search strategy

Hi gurus,

I have one small query.

We have batch search strategy defined at inventory management level ( It is defined at plant level) and also at process order type level.

Now when i do the batch determination in process order, it does the batch determination as per the strategy defined for the process order type.

My question is "What is the use of the batch search strategy defined at inventory management level?"

Hi,

Batch determination functionality in inventory management used to find out the batch number for components when do goods issue to the process order according to batch strategy. In this case component will not be assigned with batch number in the process order component overview screen.

Batch determination functionality in process order is used to find out the batch number for component while creating the process order itself. You can not change the system assigned batch number while doing goods issue.

1. Batch determination process order - As per FIFO.

2. Batch determination inventory management - As per Shelf life expiry.

Suppose we have both type of batch search strategy in system and I forgot to do batch assignment in the process order.

So while doing the goods issue against the process order, will system do the batch determination as per option 2?

If this is the case, how can i make batch to be assigned mandatorily in the process order before release.

Hi Smart,

1. maintain batch check active in OPL8 / COR4.

2. maintain following values in Batch Entry Field (MRP 2 View).

                "1 Manual batch determination required upon release of order"

                "3 Automatic batch determination upon release of order"

3. Maintain Batch Determination condition records with sort rule and batch search Strategy. (Tcode COB1)

Hi Dharma,

I have tried.As mentioned above, I have 2 batch search strategies:

1. Batch determination process order - As per FIFO.

2. Batch determination inventory management - As per Shelf life expiry.

In the process order I forgot to do batch assignment (NO backflush) and when I went to do batch determination in CORK, it did not determine any batch.

Please advise.

Dear Bora,

If my understanding is correct if the batch search strategy is not defined for the order type in COB1,then

the system uses the batch search strategy defined for the type set in MBC1 and the system will pick

the batch using the same.(assuming the batch check is active for 261 movement for the inventory

management).

Hi,

If you forget to do batch determination in the process order, system will not allow you to release the process order. So this order component will be assigned with batch number. Same batch number to be issued in the goods issue.

Hello Mangalraj Sir,

The batch search strategy is defined for process order (COB1) as well as in inventory management (Plant level) using MBC1 and ME02.

Now, I forgot to do the batch determination in process order before release. So when I am doing the goods issue using CORK and click on batch determination, nothing happens.

When you say assuming the batch check is active at 261 movement, do you mean by the setting in OMJJ.
