Super BOM transfer from legacy to SAP

Hello All,

We have a scenario where the customer wants to use existing legacy system to configure a super BOM.. They want to send only the result of this configuration to SAP..

The customer wants to see the super BOM also in SAP and carry out all other logistics processes in SAP - sale order creation, production order etc..

In this case, every time when a BOM has to be determined, we have to request the legacy system for the configured BOM..

Is this possible? any inputs on this scenario would be helpful.. In these cases, where we use the configuration results from external systems, how is the BOM managed in SAP.. Does a BOM is really required or can we directly create BOM in each sale order or production order?

Regards, Aby

Hi Aby,

For this requirement you need extensive support from technical team. First of all you need to check whether all the material codes in legacy and SAP are the same or not. If yes you have two options

  1. If the legacy system they are using is compatible to SAP, ask your technical team to make an interface and fetch the data from the legacy BOM and upload into CS62 tcode of SAP.
  2. If the legacy system is not compatible to SAP, after selecting the required characteristic values at sale order level in legacy, tell the to download to an excel sheet and upload it to CS62. You need to create a program for uploading the BOM.

Note: In this case there is no need to write the dependencies and there is no concept of super BOM in SAP.

Hi Krishna,

Thank you for the reply..

Yes, the material numbers will be same in Legacy and SAP. So I understand your suggestion is to directly create or change an order BOM in SAP, without creating a super BOM..,

I will check this feasibility..
