Alternate Material in BOM

Dear All,

I have done all settings for Alternate material in BOM of FG.

But even though it is not picking 2nd alternate raw material whose stock is exist and considering 1st material whose stock is not exist and creating PR for 1st material.

Why it happens?

Thanks,

Naresh

Actually after MRP run, it is seen that system considers both material and creating PR for 1st and no effect on 2nd.

But when save MRP and convert planned order to production order then both the material system is considering.

What is the reason?

Plz guide me.

Thanks,

Hi Naresh,

There will be below reasons :-

Usage Probability

1.Material requirements planning (MRP) plans the alternative items according to usage probability.

If you use the usage probability to determine the withdrawal posting (strategy 1), the quantities are proposed according to the usage probability. You can change the proposed quantities.

2.An alternative item is only planned if the usage probability is at least 1%.

If the usage probability is 0%, a dependent requirement with quantity

0 is generated for the material. The component with the quantity 0 is displayed in the planned order.

If required you can increase the quantity there.

3.It is possible to plan too much for alternative items, because you can enter usage probabilities that add up to more than 100%.

4.Though you define priority, strategy for an alternative item, but it's only as per the usage probability the alternative items are planned during MRP run.So the system does not considers the other parameters during MRP run.

In the following thread I gave a detailed explanation of how alternative item group works with scenario examples, go through it and come back with questions if you have any:
