Test Connection Failed - Help pls

Former Member

Hi all ,

I am trying to configure Webdynpro based ESS and I need to create a cystem for my webdynpro

system ( my portal and webdynpro is in the same J2ee Engine ) . What I had done so far is

1. System Landscape Editor -> New > R/3 Dedicated server .

2. From the property editor I have selected WAS ( Web Application Server)

3. I have given following parameters

Host - ssptest:50000

path - /webdynpro/dispatcher/

protocol - http

4. I have also set the user mapping and system alias .

BUt when I have tested the connection , it is gving follwing error .

Test Connection with Connector - Jan 1, 1970 11:40:16 AM

Test Details:

The test consists of the following steps:

1. Retrieve the default alias of the system

2. Check the connection to the backend application using the connector defined in this system object

Results

Retrieval of default alias successful

Connection failed. Make sure user mapping is set correctly and all connection properties are correct.

My questions are

1. Is there any thing missing ?

2. When Portal and webdynpro is installed in the same J2ee engine , is there any configurations

needed in the Visual admin -> Configuration -> webdynpro ( there I find some place holders for

host , port etc )

Can anybody help me on this ?

Thanks

Aneez

Hi,

If u dont want to connect to the R/3 then why are u testing the connection for connectors.

As far as I know it is the setting for JCo connector to R/3.

If u want to test the Web AS connection chose the sap webas test connection and check if it is working.

And what does this mean

Quoted from the first post !

1. System Landscape Editor -> New > R/3 Dedicated server

Ravi ,

Per your advice , I have made the path empty and given WAS desc , WAS Host and WAS protocol . I have already set the usermapping and created an alias .

Is there any thing to do further ?

Alo pls tell me do you need to add anything particular in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\services file in the WAS host machine ?

Thanks in advance

Hi

First of all as per your post the host is fine. Please remove the so called path value and leave it blank.

When you create a WAS system in EP select property category Web Application server and there you enter the

WAS Description, WAS hostname and the WAS Protocol property.

Then you select property category user management and then there select the logon type as UIDPW, and select user mapping type as admin, user.

That should help you solve your issue. Hope you understood.

Mail me if this doesnt help you and i will give you a screenshot on how to create a WebAS system in EP.

Hi Aneez,

You have a predefined system 'SAP_LocalSystem' in your portal. When you create the WebDynpro iview, in one of the pages you will be prompted to select a system from a dropdown menu. There you will find this system also . Select this sysem. And after providing the details of the view, try to see the preview. Hope this works for you.

Hi Aneez,

I am not sure why yuu are not able to test your connection. See what SAP has to say abt creating a system for WebDynpro : http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ce/0c653f0c9fa075e10000000a114084/content.htm

(I know you might have done all these, but just wanted to confirm).

The default system 'SAP_LocalSystem' always worked for me in this regard. So I never faced this problem.

Nibu.

hi ,

THanks for the answers . Let me repeat "I DONT WANT TO COONECT TO R3 " as I already done that . I just wanted to create a system object , which points to my webdynpro system . As the guide says ...

"Even if the Webdynpro application is deployed into the same J2ee Engine , you have to maintain the system object for Webdynpro application "

Hi,

Since you are connecting to a R/3 system those parameters have to be given.

If u want to test the WAS connection go to connection tests and test SAP Web AS connection and not the Test connection for connectors.

This option is used to check the connectivity to the R/3 system.

To check the connection to R/3 you have to give the SAP system no,system ID etc,SAP client and application host.

After this you can use test connection for connectors.

Hi Aneez,

If you want to create system in the portal for Wdp iview,

All you need to do is to select SAP_R3_LoadBalancing

and there just enter the WAS Url and the WAS protocol http or https there is no need to

map this system it only use for application integrator

to find Url for your Wdp iview.

But first you have to configure the SlD for the Wdp connection to your back end System.

Check if the preview is coming correctly for the iview that you have created.
