Do we need CMS on processing tier?

hi,

We are installing SAP BOBJ BI 4.0 SP04 on windows and database is sql server. Our architecture is like this. We would like to go with Intelligence tier on one server , processing tier on another server and SQL server database is completely on another server.So, what i have done is , Intelligence tier has CMS,IFRS, Event server, So i have installed BOBJ on server 1 with CMS, IFRS and Event servers only. Now, i have started installation of BOBJ on server 2, i gave the same CMS name and same port and it completed the install but my question is do we need separate CMS here on server 2. our idea is as below:

server 1:

intelligence tier with CMS, IFRS, Event servers

server 2:

processing tier with webi,crystal reports server,report application server,connection server,job servers,CR enterprise processing servers,dashboard design servers, APS etc.

server 3:

MS Sql database

Step 1: I have installed BOBJ on server 1 and can login to CMS and can see event server,, CMS, IFRS

Step 2: I have installed BOBJ on server 2 selecting certain servers and completed it.

What is the next step i have to do to have my architecture like below?

server 1:

intelligence tier with CMS, IFRS, Event servers

server 2:

processing tier with webi,crystal reports server,report application server,connection server,job servers,CR enterprise processing servers,dashboard design servers, APS etc.

server 3:

MS Sql database

Please advise....Any help is greaty appreciated...

Hi,

this looks good so far. Leve the CMS on your intelligence Tier. Dont move it to your processing tier.

What about your Web Application Server. Where does it reside? Usually there is an own Host for the WAS.

hi Sebastian, Thanks for the response. My Tomcat server resides in Intelligence tier. I have BI 4.0 SP04 on server 1 with CMS, Event server, connection server,IFRS. When i expand the install of BI 4.0 SP04 on server 2 , i don't see any SIA created on this server2. Do i need to manually create one on server 2 with different name. If i does it, the CMS on server 1 is not working. Please let me know step by step how i can do this installation if i have my architecture as above...
