Bar Code reader for Work Orders in SAP Plant Maintenance:

Hello everybody,

I have a question regarding the Bar Code reader installation for the Work Order reading:

We need to implement a Barcoding system that will allow a user to scan a Work Order and pull in all the information for that Work Order without typing the Transaction or Work Order number.

Please, tell me how to  integrate the Barcode reader and SAP PM module, so that we can process the information from Work Orders.

I guess a little bit more detail about what version that you are using will be helpful. Integrating a bar code reader that already has successful history of usage with SAP should be the first to look at. I do not mean to propose or project a particular brand but will love to share my succesful projects with you.

You cand do it, HOW TO DO IT?, First of all, you have to define your process and what information you wanna control with the bar code label.

To make the integration you need to know the SAP PM-PCS tool, you need to integrate an ABAP and a BASIC to the team.

It is not a standard which your asking,need to develope in ABAP.

Check with ABAPr.

The solution for the same purely depends upon the technical specification for the bar code system you are using . Please consult your technical team (ABAP team) and technical team for bar code system .
