Background download XLS to app.server and read afterwards with MSEXCEL

Hi guys,

I kmow it is possible to read and create .xls cq .xlsx files on the presentaiton server. No problem.

But now i have the following. I have a midnight backgroiund program which fetches data.
This data has to be written on the applicationserver (windows) as an .xls dataset (not an .csv).
And it must be able to open this dataset next morning with standard windows ms excel.

Someone know how to achieve this.

All threads i found were going about foregound processing and presentation server

and that is not what is needed here.
