Problem setting up PI Monitoring on Solution Manager 7.1

Dear,

We are trying to set up PI monitoring on out Solution Manager 7.1 SPS06 system.

The SAP PI system is a single stack 7.31 (AEX).

The problem is that there is no PI domain available to use with the define scope step (during PI monitoring setup).

OSS note 1631346 was consulted and executed successfully. Both the SAP PI technical system and SAP PI business system are in the Solution Manager’s SLD. But what about the technical system, type Exchange Infrastructure? Should that be present too?

The managed system setup for our SAP PI system was performed successfully, except for 1 item: create logical component.

Are both problems related and result in a failure to set up PI monitoring?

Please advise.

Thanks a lot

Grettings Dimitri Sannen,

The logical components are the basis for using a system in solutions and projects. To enable Early Watch Alert, at least one logical component needs to be defined... So, you must to define it. Before do it, you need to check the existence of a product system containing for your selected technical system.

Check your LMDB regarding configuration, create a logical component and re-execute this function.

This is the standard procedure to create logical components:

Assign the system:

  • To assign a system role to an existing logical component, select a system and client in the corresponding column, for example Quality Assurance System.
  • To assign the system to a new logical component, do the following:
    1. Choose the Create New Logical Component pushbutton.
    2. The system creates a new row in the assignment table. In the Product Version and Product Instance fields, values are already assigned.
    3. In the Name column, enter a name for the new logical component.
    4. In the Systems column, use the input help to assign the system in the system roles columns.

To save your entries, choose Save Logical Components.

Hello Juan,

I found the problem.

I had to assign a technical instance to my product system in the LMDB. After that I could create a logical component in the SMSY.

For the PI domain, there were some parts missing in the SAP PI SLD. After correcting that, I performed OSS note 1631346 again to sync the content with the Solution Manager -> problem solved.

Kind regards,

Dimitri

All,

Now we face another problem...

The PI domain is successfully registered in the Solution Manager SLD

and I started the PI monitoring configuration...

In step Monitorin & Alerting -> PI Domain Overview, it goes wrong.

I see a red light for connection status. Error:

I already checked OSS note 1772476, but that correction is already in

our Solution Manager SPS06 system.

Any ideas?

thanks!

The problem with the client proxies seems to be a bug in the Managed System setup on SP06.

There are 2 possibilities to solve this issue:

  • Apply LM Service Patch 02 for SP06
  • Execute function module "E2E_WS_CONN_LOG_PORT_CREATION" using transaction SE37, with the correct input parameters.
