Hi all,
I was after some advice regarding securing data when using Analysis Edition for OLAP, connecting to SAP BW BEX queries (BICS connection) as the source.
As part of rolling out a new suite of reports, some data needs to be secured at "row level" (i.e. by particular values of a characteristic). The literature on this topic advises that the way to achieve this is to establish BI Analysis Authorisations in BW and provide BEX queries as the source for all reporting in Business Objects to enforce the security. We have implemented standard BI Analysis authorisations on the relevant characteristic. However when accessing Analysis Edition for OLAP via the BI Launchpad, users still have the option of selecting the Infoprovider as the source - bypassing these security restrictions.
The only option which we can see is to create separate connections linked directly to the queries. Then create user groups in Business Objects for each query / or set of queries which will then limit what users can connect to, ensuring that they can only access data via queries to enforce the required security over sensitive data.
However this solution appears quite manual and tedious and could become a messy overhead to maintain over the long term.
Can someone please advise of any experience in this regard?
Regards,
Dave
