Compounded Characteristics in BICS Connections - Webi

I am bringing Cost Center from a BICS query into Webi 4.0 and Controlling Area is compounded with this. However, can the compounding be removed so it does not appear in Webi. (I have already filtered this in the BEX query and doesn't appear componded in the BEx output).

However, in Webi, the Cost Centre appears compounded each time and is not ideal for the users, plus I am unable to merge this Cost Centre with another Cost Centre from a SQL Universe. (with having to add the compounded value to the SQL database value).

Has anyone any idea how we treate compounded characteristics in BO Webi 4.0, so only the selected characteristic key value appears and not compounded value?

This is by design. In WebI, you cannot get rid of compounded characteristic. However, you can use string functions of WebI to get rid of inside WebI.

You put this to idea place. SAP definitely should do something about this.

Just a small doubt, how have u filtered the compounded bject in BW side.

We can hide the compounded objects in Bex side thru the following option aswell.

0CUST_SALES has 2 compounding attibutes Sales organisation nd Distribution channel.

in the rows panel of Bex, drag all the 3 objects and place sales org and distri channel just above cust sales, then change the dispay properties of sales org and distri channel as No display

and the result row as Suppress Results for the 2 objects sales org and distr chanl.

Now if you execute, only cust sales would be shown in bw.

This is a work around that we do in BW,but to be very frank, I have not checked the output in BO webi...

There have been enhancements around this in BI4 SP5, retrieving the non-compounded key is now supported out of the box. See here for more information:

BI4 SP5: All you need to know about compounded objects

    Best regards,
