Help with WEBI

Hi All,

I need help with the following points with regards to WEBI, would appreciate your assistence -

  • In a chart, is it possible to format numbers for Category Axis. For example, i have Year as the Category Axis and its values appear as 2, 012 or 2, 2011. Is it possible to format this representation so that it appears as 2012, 2011, etc. The data in the underlying query looks fine.
  • The chart does not seem to show data for all the values against a category. For example, if the data is for 2012, 2011, 2010 years. the system shows data only for 2012 and not for others. Again, the data in the underlying query looks fine.
  • I am creating a WEBI on from data in an excel sheet, how can i add drill-down characteristics to the report. I need to provide users with the flexibility to change the drill down characteristics, something like what 'Free Characteristics' in BEx do.

Would appreciate your assistence with the above, thanks.

You can find answers to your questions

  • In a chart, is it possible to format numbers for Category Axis. For example, i have Year as the Category Axis and its values appear as 2, 012 or 2, 2011. Is it possible to format this representation so that it appears as 2012, 2011, etc. The data in the underlying query looks fine.

Actually, you can not format numbers for dimension. However, you can use this formula to format dimension objects' values.

=FormatNumber([Year Object];"#")

  • The chart does not seem to show data for all the values against a category. For example, if the data is for 2012, 2011, 2010 years. the system shows data only for 2012 and not for others. Again, the data in the underlying query looks fine.

If there is any value for 2011 and 2010 in the system, the chart should show the values. Can you see values in the table for those year?

  • I am creating a WEBI on from data in an excel sheet, how can i add drill-down characteristics to the report. I need to provide users with the flexibility to change the drill down characteristics, something like what 'Free Characteristics' in BEx do.

If you are not using a universe on top of your excel data, then you cannot set drill down for the report. Would you also be more specific about this? Because I didn't understand the relation between free characteristics and drill down in WebI.

Hi,

  • Regarding the first point - where exactly do i write this formula.
  • Regarding the third - i need the users to be free to change the dimensions in the report. For example, the report default view will show revenues by Company Code but the users may want to analyse the data on the basis of Doc Type also. We have something called 'Free Characteristics' in BEx to do this. Hope this helps. Thanks.
