Please advise on the steps involved in Sales revenue planning mentioned below- Is it correct sequence/process flow??
Project Planning Phase:
•ABC company’s objective is to do tactical Planning for FY’13
•Plan Sales Revenue in local currency by product ,based on actual data
•Increase total sales revenue by 10% from X billion to Y billion
•ABC is headquartered in the United States and conducts business in 15 different countries (regions)
•They have 200 items on their product line
•They want to create report to depict plan vs. actual
Blue Print Phase:
•Gather business requirements
• Conduct Interviews, workshops, whiteboard sessions and perform requirement analysis
•Understand the AS IS process and formulate TO BE process
•Capture details regarding Business process Flows, Dimension Library and Models, Input Schedules, Reports, Data Inflow, Data Out flow, Script Logic( FX Trans , Allocation) and Security in the Solution Design Document
Build Phase:
•Build Dimensions (Populate Properties and Members)
•Build Models (Sales Revenue, Rate Model)
•Set up security (User and member access profile et. all)
•Map the Models and Dimensions
•Setup Business process flow and work status
•Build input schedule (As defined by business users)
•Load actual data using data manager package
•Run Currency translation for converting local currency
•Plan data (Increase Sales Revenue by 10%)
•Review and approve plan data
•Generate variance reports for comparison between Plan and Actual
•Using script logic allocate budget to different regions
Hi Kimi,
I wont be able to comment much on the process front; since it completely depends on your client. The approach of sales planning is different from organization to organization. So, you need to understand their approach.
The BBP phase looks fine to me.
In the build phase, modelling of security will come quite late. Typically, in the initial stage, we do the development using some dummy IDs, and the unit testing is also done using the dummy IDs, with some security profiles. However, before the UAT, you need to create appropriate IDs with security.
BPF should be created after all the dependent objects have been created, like the templates, DM packages, etc.
Hope this helps.
