v9 B1SiteUser password

mark_kenworthy

Hi,

Is anyone else having problems installing the v9 preview software?

I have installed the Server Tools and set a B1SiteUser password.

It then goes onto the Server installer. This prompts for me to enter the B1SiteUser password which I do but it gives the attached error message:

"Authentication against the specified License Server has failed.

Check your SiteUser password"

When you go to License Manager and Configure Security, that doesn't work either! Clicking reset site password doesn't do anything! The page just sits there (screenshot 2).

I have cleanly un-installed  the software and started again but to no avail.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get the installer working?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Shelly,

Yes I logged a call with SAP.

The fix was to ensure that TCP/IP protocol has been enabled in the SQL Server which you provided in Server Tools installer. You can check this in SQL Server Configuration manager (SQL Server Network Conf iguration). Please make sure TCP/IP protocol of SQL Server is enabled.

Thanks,

Mark

     1. Enable TCP/IP Protocol on SQL Server.
     2. Set SQL Browser service to Auto Start.
     3. Disable the Windows Firewall.
     4. Uninstall or Disable Any Antivirus Programs.
     5. Uninstall SAP (everything).
     6. Delete the C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP.
     7. Reboot the machine.
     8. Make Sure the above Points 1st and 2nd are Still Running Enabled.
     8. Install SAP 9 - Server Tools - in custom mode , Select needed check boxes , Finish.
     9. Install SAP 9 - Server - in Custom mode make sure that Service Manager & License Manager are Running.
10.This Enabbles Full SAP 9 Installation.

Hi

Here is what I did to fix mine:

     1. Enable TCP/IP Protocol on SQL Server.
     2. Set SQL Browser service to Auto Start.
     3. Disable the Windows Firewall.
     4. Uninstall SAP (everything)
     5. Delete the C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP

hi.

I had the same issue and want to share what worked for me. it looks that one of the windows update in not compatible with the installation of the install. starting from sap 9.1 pl04 install, you need to uninstall the following windows update (KB3172985) to be able to go through the installation.

Hi all,

Found that this was resolved by ensuring the SQL Server browser was started in SQL Server Configuration Manager.

hello, just wanted to share my experience,

it didnt work first, and then i set a static AP address for my server, restarted the server and tadaa.. it worked.

hello

an extra small TIP because of the TCP/IP (9.1sp3)

when reinstalling the server tools indeed an error came up about the TCP/IP

so i checked the configuration settings of the SQL server - network - protocols

- we are using instances and each instance has its protocol entry, and its own ip address & port

- also in the address of the sql server field (during the setup of the server tools) you must use the full database address = 'sqlservername\D01"  (NOT the servers address "sqlserver")

Hi Ravi,

Could you please provide more information for us?  What patch level are you working with?  Are you on v9.0?  What SQL server and what Windows server are you running?

What error messages are you getting?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your quick mail. I was able to finish the installation after removing the B1 folder for the base drive and again reinstalling it after starting all the services for SQL server.

Thanks,

None of the above solutions worked for me. I am still waiting for SAP to provide the solution. I have TCP/IP Enable, SQL Server Browser enabled and have installed the new version of server tools that came with version 9.0 install files.

What exactly are your symptoms?  Where are you getting stuck?

You really should remove everything you have installed and delete the C:\Program Files\SAP folder.  If you are trying to install using the old version of the Server Tools OR you are installing the new version of the tools but it doesn't prompt you for a new b1siteuser password then you need to uninstall and remove the server tools completely because it will not work.

The new license server needs access to your SQL server to add an SLD database which will contain all the connection criteria, etc.

In my case I was able to install the Server Tools and set a new password but when I went to install the actual Server it would get to the validation of the License Server and claim it couldn't find the License Server.  No matter what I tried it would say invalid connection.  I verified my security password, I reinstalled everything, cleared %temp%, cleared all the SAP directories and even used an uninstalled to clean everything off the machine.  I even tried using the raw IP address to connect, tried switching passwords in case there was some error with cached passwords not being able to be reused, etc.

NOTHING worked.

I kept running into the TCP/IP protocol solution which didn't help.  I set all of the TCP/IP and Named Pipes protocols on and restarted, reinstalled SQL and used different versions but got nothing.

I finally started looking at Windows Event Viewer and found a few weird errors and things but this didn't help.  I then started snooping around the SAP log files that were recorded during installation and it turns out that one of the files mentions the SQL Browser service specifically.

Before I found this not only could I not proceed with the install but when I tried to 'Configure Security' on the License Server it would not let me login.  It would open up the System Landscape Directory but when I entered my password it just didn't do anything.  I clicked the button and it would sit there.

After the SQL Browser turned on it worked perfectly.

Remember to turn off your anti-virus software AND make sure you have administrator rights (Windows and SQL) AND make sure your firewall is off for testing and install.

If you read what happened to me and don't recognize some of the steps or got stuck at a different spot, please provide more detail so we can help you troubleshoot.

Thanks,

Mike

Hello Mike,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I was able to install the server tools (using tools from v9.0) and when I start installing B1 Server, at the B1SiteUser authentication, I get an error "Authentication against the specified License Server has failed.  Check your Site User password." I have tried uninstalling it (also removing complete path from Program Files (x86) and installing it back and have noted the password every-time I've installed but it does not work with the correct password.

  • Licensing Manager is running.
  • TCP-IP in SQL Server Network Configuration is Enabled
  • Named Pipes in SQL Server Network Configuration is Enabled
  • SQL Browser is Enabled
  • Firewall is turned off
  • No Antivirus / software firewall available
  • When you go to License Manager > Configure Security, that doesn't work either! Clicking reset site password doesn't do anything! The page just stays there.

I have also tried changing many parameters in License Manager Settings but nothing worked.

I tried enable SQL Browser but it still gave me the same error. What I haven't tried is to change the password from License Manager > Configure Security after enabling SQL Browser. I will try that and update you if that would get me to next level.

Thanks,

Dhairya

I was in the same boat.  But the minute I turned the SQL Browser on it let me finish the install AND login to the SLD (through Configure Security in the License Server).

Are you sure that ALL the TCP/IP protocols have been enabled?  There are several in the configuration settings for SQL.  I'm using 2008 R2 SP2 Express (it is a demo machine).  It lists 2008 and 2008 R2 as what's recommended as a prerequisite in the Administration Guide.

Did you right click >> 'Run as Administrator' for the setup file?

Did you setup your database instance as a Network Service (vs local system/service)?  You can check this in the SQL Configuration Tool.  Right click the instance name, click Properties and it's on the Log On tab.

Did you try using the IP instead of the logical name?  (Start >> Run >> CMD >> ipconfig)

Did you install the .NET framework 4.0 and follow all the prerequisites from the administration guide?

Is your UAC turned right off (Never Notify)?  Control Panel >> User Accounts >> Change how user account control notifies me >> Set to 'Never Notify' and restart.

Do you have an old download of the install files from SAP?  Maybe you have not downloaded the latest files.  I downloaded the files again last Sunday (March 3, 2013) before it worked on Monday.

Do you have an updated version of Java running?  At some point I noticed it was using Java to do something.

This is everything I could possibly think of.

Let me know,

Mike

This is excellent list. I have tried most of it. However, I just restarted the server so I'll go thru the complete list and confirm.

Thanks.

I started my machine this morning and 9.0 would not start!  So after a bit of cursing at my computer I started to run through my checklist.

Since this is a demo machine I'm working on I didn't want the SQL or SAP services to start automatically so I left them all on manual mode so they didn't start unless I needed them.

This appeared to be the problem.  I went through and set everything to automatic including SQL Server Browser and then restarted.

Didn't work.

So I went through the SAP directories (in C:\Program Files) and right click >> Compatibility Tab >> Run as Administrator.  Still didn't work.

Restarted.

I noticed my SQL Server Browser kept switching back to 'Manual' mode even when I turned it on.  I guess you have to set it to Automatic when it's off?  Or something like that.  Because when I made sure all of this was done and then restarted with everything set to run automatically it worked.  I even made sure the Apache service was set to run as administrator (C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SAP Business One ServerTools\System Landscape Directory\apache-tomcat-6.0.35\bin and the .exe files in there).

When I restarted with SQL instance and browser to automatic and all of the server tools services (license server and DI API) then restarted it seemed to actually work!

Then I got to thinking that I did a fresh install.  I didn't upgrade.  So I might as well upgrade from the install version which is PL00 to the second upgrade PL02.

I'm downloading now so when I'm done upgrading I'll relay my findings.

Mike,

I faced the same problem yesterday about SQL Browser Services, so I kept the SQL Browser on Automatic from manual. Restarted the machine and was able to go to System Landscape Directory (Thanks to you) I added the server and was able to pass through the B1SiteUser authentication.

Now there is a new issue.

After selecting custom option, the next screen it should show the list of DB server type and for me it is blank. It should show MSSQL2012 or MSSQL_2012 (for 2008 it shows MSSQL_2008).

If I keep blank and click next, on next screen it does not verify the server.

I also have started downloading PL02. Do you know if I can install the server from PL02 directly or is it just for update? It is +3Gig file so assuming that it should have complete install.

I'll keep you'll updated.

Wow, that's awesome!

I don't understand what you mean.  Is this while you are still trying to do the install of the server?  Or did the server installation fail?

When it comes up it generally has the wrong server and instance.  For example it will show MACHINE-NAME where the actual server would be MACHINE-NAME\SQLEXPRESS.  So that might be the issue.

Maybe you can lay out a bit more detail of your issue so I can try to simulate it.  I am using 2008 R2 Express which might make sense for you to switch to if you keep having difficulties.  2012 might not be fully supported for PL00.

The Patch for PL02 probably won't work for you if you are unable to actually install the PL00.  You may get lucky if you have the server tools but it would be looking for SBO-COMMON to upgrade, etc.

I'm at 70% so I will let you know when I do my upgrade.

I have upgraded to PL02 and I get the same issue.  I have not found a true solution.  I have to monkey around with things before it to get it work.

So it is still an issue.

I have downloaded v9.0 PL02 and I have exactly the same issue with a fresh install (brand new virtual machine). I have checked all the settings as mentionned above. Note that I am running SQL 2012. Anyway, this is very frustrating...

When I try to extract Install Files for SAP B1 9.0 PL2, it gives me an error. I have tried multiple times on different x86 and x64 systems and I get same error again and again. Previously when I got this error, I was able to extract in x86 system and not in x64 system. This time either one is not working. Not sure whats going wrong. SAP should have better process for this or better documentation on what is the ideal way to do things that does not create errors. I am almost loosing my patience now!

Error: Some files could not be created. Please close all applications, reboot Windows and restart this installation.

See the attached screenshot for error:

Note: Also there are no applications open while I am doing this extraction, I am running only Microsoft OS related services.

Usually what I do in that case is to not use the auto-extraction from WinRAR.  I have had the same message.  What I do to get around that is to just double click the zip archive so you see the contents and I highlight all of the files and folders inside and push CTRL + C (copy) and then I make a folder on the desktop or wherever and click CTRL + V (paste) and this usually works.

Something with the auto extract routine causes issues consistently with SAP archives, not sure why.

As for the B1 9.0 errors I have opened a ticket with SAP but have not heard anything back yet.  I will report what I find here when I (hopefully) hear back from SAP Global Support. Mine is not a ramp-up or production system so it might take them a while to respond.

Mike,

I got this extraction part working.

Steps Performed:

1. Copied all downloaded exe & rar files on a local folder of 32bit machine.

2. Run the exe file in Administrator mode

3. When asked for extraction path, give an absolute path without any spaces on root drive (e.g. C:\SAPB1Extract)

Extraction should go pretty smooth. Based on system settings, you may get a warning that "This program has not been installed properly, Do you want to re-install?" Select 'No, it is installed properly' and click Ok or X out the screen.

Woosh! Finally I was able to successfully install the SAP Business One 9.0 PL02 version of Server Tools and Server.

System Environment:

Windows Server 2008 R2 Std., Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express (installed in mix mode), SAP Business On 9.0 PL2 version

Steps performed:

1) Removed old SAP Server Tools and SAP folder available in Program Files (x86)

2) Make sure SQL Server Service, TCP/IP in SQL Server Network Configuration is enabled and port 1433 is assigned, and also SQL Server Browser Service is running in Automatic mode.

3) Copied the Extracted files on local disk and ran Autorun.exe in Administrator mode.

4) Installed the Server Tools.

5) After Server Tools are installed, open Service Manager > select License Manager service is running.

6) Click on Settings button of Service manager under License Manager service. > Click Connect to make sure you are connected. If you are connected properly, you will see Hardware Key and License Server Version fields. If you are having problem with License Server name, try using IP address of License Server.

For some reason, this time I didnt have to add server list in System Landscape Directory using "Configure Security" button.

(If any one of you receive B1SiteUser Authorization error in Server Installation > try adding Database Server in System Landscape Directory (SLD) )

Click Ok on opened General Settings Window to save the settings and close.  click OK on Service Manager window.

7) Now start the SAP Business One Server Installation.

😎 When asked for a serve type select MSSQL2012 (if your DB is SQL Server 2012).

Everything else should work fine. I am currently installing the client version. I will update for rest of the install.

Note:

I have the ticket with SAP open and one thing to note that SAP Business One 9.0 PL00 (Version 900.046.00) DOES NOT work with SQL Server 2012 edition. Only PL01 or later versions will work with SQL Server 2012.

To find out the version > open info.txt in extracted files / installation DVD you have received. If you see 900.046.00, which means you have PL00 and it will NOT work with SQL Server 2012.

I do not have PL01 version, but PL02 version is 900.054.02

Hope this is helpful.

Dhairya

I had a response from SAP support, they asked me to check the log files for the SLD.  Located roughly here:C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SAP Business One ServerTools\System Landscape Directory\apache-tomcat-6.0.35\logs

I checked the log files and found the following error:

<openjpa-2.1.1-r422266:1148538 fatal user error> org.apache.openjpa.util.UserException: A JDBC Driver or DataSource class name must be specified in the ConnectionDriverName property.

I checked all over in the config for that string (ConnectionDriverName) but was unable to find it to update it.  I notice that JavaFX was installed but I couldn't find any documentation on the exact version required for install.

So I sent back the logs and information and hopefully there is a straightforward solution to the connection driver name to get things working 100%.

Mike,

I forgot to mention that I did install JRE in the process. I was unaware of any Java driver requirements but one of the forum posts mentioned that if you do not have Java on your machine it may create issue, so I did install the JRE from java.com. Try installing Java if you dont have on that machine, remove the server tools, delete the folder 'SAP' from Program Files (x86) and restart the machine. Restart the installation.

I think I finally got my install working consistently thanks to SAP Global Support.

Here is what the final solution was.  I upgraded to 9.0 PL02 first, still didn't work.  Then I uninstalled server tools (which includes SLD) and reinstalled from the PL02 package manually.  When I was installing I used the exact server name and the instance as well.  It worked to continue with just the server but it didn't grab all the databases.

SO, when it asks for SQL credentials I used MIKE-THINK\SQLEXPRESS rather than just MIKE-THINK and then used SQL authentication (don't use Windows authentication).

I had to log into SLD and manually add the server but it now seems to find the SLD consistently without issues.

Moral of the story.  If you installed SQL with a named instance SQLEXPRESS (or whatever) then you need to install the server tools with the SERVER NAME\SQL INSTANCE.  This is why using the IP doesn't work because the IP is just the same as using only the SERVER NAME.  So my issue was a bit different.

Hopefully this helps but if not log a ticket with SAP they helped right away.

Hello,

I had the same error message and what made difference was the UAC settings. After I configured  everything noted here (TCP/IP, Browser, etc.), I still was struggling with the error. and the error was cleared as soon as I changed UAC to "never notified". There were many application influenced by the UAC settings in my experiences and I still did not check it.

I appreciate for your suggestion, Mike!

Hello everyone.  I found the solution in the log files.  It says to turn on the SQL Server Browser and this actually fixed the problem.

I was able to install the server, access the SLD, etc.

Make sure you restart after turning the service on (set it to automatic) and it will work!

Good luck guys!

Hi Mike,

I didn't have a chance to test your solutions because SAP provided the following fix which wordked in our case:

1. Uninstall old version server tools

2. Clear Server Tools install path

(e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SAP Business One ServerTools\)

3.Install new version server tools.

It looks like it not as simple as SAP support says, we been using SAP 88,881,882 ,and the TCP/IP and Named PIpes all eanbled , firewall is turned off , there is no Antivirus Firewall and we dont have any problem with the siteuser

but with SAP V9 i have a problem , the appache dosent work and i found out the apache works with the V9 upgrade and the site user still  have the error,

Dayal,

Please try the below:

1. Please check whether TCP/IP protocol has been enabled in the SQL Server which you provided in Server Tools installer. You can check this in SQL Server Configuration manager (SQL Server Network Conf iguration). Please make sure TCP/IP protocol of SQL Server is enabled.

2. Please check whether you are using an HTTP proxy for network access. If yes, please add the system landscape directory server address to the list of proxy exceptions and try again.

If it still not work after you done all the checks above, please log a ticket with SAP Support including the related log files,

1. SAP Business One log files, you can get the log files at %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\SAP\SAP Business One\Log. Please compress all files in this path and upload.

2. System Landscape Directory log files, you can get the log files at <Server Tools install path>/ System Landscape Directory\apache-tomcat-6.0.35\logs (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SAP Business On e ServerTools\System Landscape Directory\apache-tomcat-6.0.35\logs).

Log the call under component: SBO-PRE-90 (Preview Version 9.0).

I cannot offer further help as the above fixed my issue.

Hi Mark,

I'm trying to install v9.0 but while installing Server Tools I didn't find any way to set B1SiteUser Password. So I don't know what to give while installing Server for B1SiteUser Password.

Can you please help in this how you get that prompt for B1SiteUser while installing Server Tools.

Hi Pari,

Are you installing v9 on a new server or are you upgrading an existing instance of SAP?

If you install on a new box, when you are installing the server tools, after you select the features to install (tick the Landscape Management option) you should get the attached screenshot.

If you have already installed the server tools please go into license manager and change the password via settings.

Thanks

Hi Mark,

Thanks for reply. Landscape Management option is already selected and I don't get B1SiteUser password window but other window comes to select certificate option and server tools are successfully installed.

Now when I try to change the password through Configure Security first of all it gives a certificate error on webpage and when I try to Continue on that website and Select Forgot Password and then Reset My Password button then nothing happens and Error on page (something javascript error and hence not updated password and stuck here).

Can you please help me on this , would be very appreciated.
