Sybase control centre configuration of Relay server

Hi ,

How to configure the relay server on Sybase control centre for different users restricting their access .

For ex :

1) if grade-1 user logging in , the configuration should access intranet .

2) if grade-2 user logging in , the configuration should access internet .

How to achieve this scenario ?

Can anyone help me on this ?

Regards,

Abhirami

    Hi Abhirami,

Can you give a bit more information on your scenario and also why exactly you are doing this in this way?

I'm not sure you should be using a relay server as a method for redirecting users based on a role - that should be built in either to the app or handled elsewhere. Different relay server farms could be used for different configurations or different application connection templates but in order to give a more useful answer we would need more information.

    Thanks,

    Brenton.

    • Hi Abhi,

Hmm this is an interesting one - Are you using Afaria at all by any chance to deploy the application to the users device? If so you could do the configuration of the app through Afaria I think which might help with this issue.

Other than that - you could write a custom authentication module for SUP I think that could take into account the users originating location and allow/deny access based on that.... but that could get a bit messy.

I'm still not sure why you would want to do this - if you only want certain users to have access to the server externally - why not simply have a separate appID and different connection settings? It would be the same package on the SUP box, but with 2 app IDs one for external and one for internal. Then you would give users the correct app for their device based on their grade which would use the correct appID.

      Hope that helps,

      Brenton.

    Hello Abhirami,

you are looking for RBAC (Role Based Access Control). However this is not covered by Relay Servers. Are you aware about Network Edge Authentication with SUP and Siteminder? Here you can decide if an user/device may enter the DMZ or not. Maybe this is an approach for your.
