Hi:
In GM_CREATE_BUDGET, i can not see posting period field. One of client's requirement is to enter budget in GM-GTE on monthly basis i-e as Grant is awarded they want to enter budget corresponding to it on a monthly basis , AVC is check is however not required for that particular month, it means that at every start of month they will be posting budget for a particular posting period, they want to keep reporting of posted budget like this. I advises them to post budget for whole validity of Grant but they not agreeing so i just want to confirm if it is possible to post monthly budgets in GM-GTE.

Atif,
Please note that since GM is a Special Purpose Ledger it determines the period based on the posting date (at the line item level) in the GM budget document. The budget is always stored by period in GMIP and GMIT. So reporting should not be an issue.

I think you did not get my point. We have budget period option in FM-BCS and activation of account assignment budget period can enable us to do monthly budgeting in FM-BCS , please guide me can we achieve the same in GM-GTE. In GM-GTE budget is posted for the validity of Grant, can it be posted on monthly basis and , client want to track Grant budget & its corresponding expenditures on monthly basis. Thanks

The account assignment - Budget Period is not available in GM - Grantee.
I also do not understand why you need budget period to perform monthly budgeting in FM. The budget can be distributed in FM to multiple months by using a distribution key. You can also use manual period assignment in BCS to put 100% of the budget in one period.

FM was just a reference object in the question under discussion because in FM we can make use of account assignment budget period after activation of business function PSM_GEN_BUDPER_1 . Prima facie ,n GM-GTE i do not fund such an option , its client requirement to post some project related budgets on monthly basis irrespective of it validity i-e they want to post budget of a 5 year project on monthly basis and amount in each period can vary. I told them to post whole 5 year budget and release it on monthly basis but they are not agreeing but i think i have found a clue which i have not tested which is to configure a GM budget split rule using "monthly split by sponsor year" , I think in this way at least budget can be posted monthly basis , please correct if i am wrong.

The splitting rule is the way to go although you will need to verify whether it works for you.

GM Splitting rule with monthly splitting rule as sponsor fiscal year will do the job. I have tested it.
