Today has been launched an new SAP Site called https://experience.sap.com/.
I have discovered it with my personal Google alert.
As you may have observed, there has been a lot of SAP buzz on Great User Experience.
I am not only referring to Mobility.
Day in the life of a SAP User
I have found an entry on Personas on this new website and decided to post a comment (in fact few questions-observations).
After spending 10 mns to write my comment (I am not a native english speaker) I push the button to post my comment.
And then I got a wonderful screen "SQL Error Apache" which include some wonderful SQL statement.
No need to say I have lost all my typing.
This is a violation of the basic User Experience Guidelines.
Then I decided to enter a short comment .... and then very strange characters are displayed (and I am wondering if some words at the end sentence have not been lost).
My sacarstic take-away
What a disapointment !!!
On a website around Experience, basic application development practices are not followed.
Long time ago (last century) I was writing code and this kind of error was avoided (or detected before going in production through testing).
Of course the screens seem to look nice .... but there is not a 1 to 1 relationship between beauty and great user experience.
It looks like to paint a car to hide the rust.
What a poor marketing impact (no need to say I had a similar disappointment when SCN was revamped).
SAP is eager to sell story to their customer .... but is not applying it.
Is SAP running SAP ... from a User Experience, Design Thinking point of view ?
From time to time I am loosing faith, patience with SAP on some subjects (I do agree it is a minor fact but I have other more important facts that I am trying to work with SAP).
How can I convince my internal stakeholder if I am not convinced ?
Conclusion
Sometimes I am wondering if SAP should not outsource some of their development to their customers .....😉
It is my first blog so I do not how it will be treated and how the SAP automated sentiment data analysis will identify this blog.
Last but not least let's hope the post message will work properly here.
