Preliminary settlement of CO Product - DIMP - PP6

Hi

With settlement rule PP6, system creates the distribution rule based on planned delivery quantities till the time Order do not have status DLV or TECO. When DLV or TECO is reached, system will create distribution rule based on actual delivered quantities. Assume, an Order is open at the month end (neither fully delivered nor TECO) - in this scenario system should only calculate and post WIP for the Order. However, if the Preliminary settlement of Order is done, system creates a CO document based on planned delivery quantities and splits each line item of actual cost on the order between co products based on planned delivery quantities. What is the use of this CO document or even why should system do the preliminary settlement of co products if the status is not DLV or TECO becuase it will anyways be not posted during settlement based on planned delivery quantities. Only when the order has received status TECO, preliminary settlement should come into the play
