Changes in FMIR - Specify open times interval

Hi Eli,

We have implemented BCS (Budgetary Control System) in 2009 and prior to that we were using Funds Management (now termed as Former budgeting). We have created some Purchase requisition in FY 2005-2006-2007 in those fund center & commitment item which were not mark as budgetable & posting in Budget structure FM9K. (Year of budget structure is 2003)

Now today when we try to de-release such PR system requires to maintain the Budget structure accordingly.

My query is

Changes in Budget Structure now in FM9K (after implementing BCS) had any data inconsistency issue or not. If yes what would i need to ensure before making change in budget structure (of FY 2003)

Even if i change the budget structure system is giving error message that FM posting period is not open. I had checked FMIR and the interval is maintained from 2008 onwards. I need to make fresh entries for FY 2005-2006-2007.

If i make changes for new entries of FY in FMIR does it lead to any data inconsistency or not, else is there any another way out.

Please resolve my query

Regards

Shankar

Hi,

1) Implementing of BCS, as you noice, is done as from certain year. Whatever changes you would perform in years before, won't have any impact on the actions executed under BCS regime.

2) You are free to open periods retroactively; no consequences to current years.

After you migrated to BCS, any changes to budget in former will have no impact on the budget registered under BCS.

Dear Eli,

But thing is our budget structure is same for Funds management & BCS as well. Now if i make changes in budget structure using FM9K..can it lead to any sort of data inconsistency in.

Please give your expert opinion on this matter.

I believe, I answered this, didn't I? Changes in FM9K, after activation of BCS, has no effect in BCS. Period.
