What are the differences between web services and proxies

Hi all,

I referred all the existing threads but could not figure out the actual difference. I know proxy will be created in SPROXY transaction and also what is web service.

A web service is an interface implementing the industry standards of SOAP and WSDL (and usually HTTP) to expose functionality to a web service consumer. It is a

technical implementation to expose functionality through a standards based protocol.

Except the above defintion, could any one please elaborate with examples?

1. What is the link between web service and proxy.

2. Is webservice is also created in sproxy like ABAP Proxy.

Thanks,

Baasanthi.
