What are the differences between EXEC_METHODCALL_PPF and CRM_ACTION_BADI

Could any one please explain when we actually use CRM_ACTION_BADI. Because for the method processing type we have only EXEC_METHODCALL_PPF Badi then when we CRM_ACTION_BADI.

1. When we use CRM_ACTION_BADI.

2. Where we actually use this implementation?
