Confusion in Maintenance Plan Scheduling

Hello everybody,

I'm involved in the SAP implementation for our company, especially in the PM module. I would be grateful if help me calriying a confusion that I'm facing. I will give you my example then I will as my question.

- I have maintennace strategy (key-date) with 1, 3, 6, 12, 24 months packages

- I have created a general task list and assigned the previous strategy to it, and I included one task which is performed every 6 months (twice a year)

- Then, I have created maintenance plan and assigned the previous task list to it. I made scheduling period to be 1 YR and the start up date to be todays date (14.11.2012)

- Finally, I went to scheduling this maintenance plan, and here confusion happens.

After scheudling the maintenance plan, I expected the system to display two calls based on the start up date of the maintenance plan and the operation frequency in the task list

I expected to see two calls:

first one with plan date (14.05.2013)

second one with plan date (14.11.2013)

but the system is only showing one plan date which is the one on (14.05.2013), and doesn't show the other.

now I tried different values for start of cycle for the maintenance plan like I put the cycle to start from yesterday (13.11.2013)

Here the system shows the two expected calls

first one with plan date (13.05.2013)

second one with plan date (13.11.2013)

Can you please clarify the confusion for me. Does the scheduling of the maintenance plan depends on todays date? If it depends, then why the system is asking for start of cycle date? I expected the system should schedule the plan based on the start up date, wethear I start the plan on 01.01.2012, or 01.01.2100

Thank you
