This discussion relates to how you trace activity of SAP CPS objects if they are not Jobs within CPS.
Anything that runs as a Job (most things do) are quite simple - you can read the stdout/stderr logs - you can even add your own script to the objects and output extra information to those logs.
However currently we're having an issue tracking activity on Job Definition Alert Sources.
These are objects you get if you buy the additional Active Monitoring module from Redwood, which extends the monitoring/alerting features of the product and, we believe, actually complements (despite some overlap) the Solution Manager features for monitoring your environment.
With these Job Definition Alert Sources you can define pattern recognition on job attributes and then setup alerting/action rules to run on all matching objects. However while testing this functionality we have hit a bit of a road-block - if the actions don't seem to be firing then there is no "job" associated with these Job Definition Alert Sources being triggered.
It is here I get to the crux of the question in this discussion - on this (and other objects of similar natures) how do you "see" and track what is happening
As with any application we need to be able to see and track what's going on to fully understand and utilise these functions.
Any advice and further discussion would be highly welcome!
