What does the ‘Base period category’ exactly do ?

Hi Everyone,

While viewing an installation, under Billing/meter reading control there is Base period category.

What does the ‘Base period category’ exactly do? What is the effect of this?

Hi Anshuman,

Base period category will be used during estimation. You have two options - Previous Period and Period of previous year.

If we choose Previous Period, then estimation will be carried out based on meter reading history/consumption from previous months...

If we choose Period of previous year, then estimation will be carried out based on meter reading history/consumption from previous year...

Hi Anshuman,

Although Avinash has correctly said that reasons for Base Period Category I would like to elaborate further on the estimation logic that is built up in SAP ISU.

If you read the help file under SAP Utilities >  Device Management >  Meter Reading > Extrapolation....

the extrapolation logic for meter reading elaborately given. If you need any further information kindly revert back, I will be glad to inform you.
