Pardon me if I have this in the wrong place, but this is my first post on SCN...
Is this configuration possible and if so, how to I accomplish it?
Scenario:
Example:
Material delivered to dock. Incoming material processed with MB01, MIGO or custom Z transaction that calls MIGO. Material is set up with minimum remaining shelf life of 360 days. If receipt is performed on the material and the expiration date, whether manually entered or calculated by SAP, is less than the remaining shelf life, automatically move material stock to quality inspection or blocked stock.
Current Understanding:
My current understanding is this might be accomplished through standard configuration for batch material processing AND/OR through some configuration of the quality module.
Thanks for your assistance.
Russ
if the minimum remaining shelf life is not met, then SAP will not allow to receive the material, so I think you must not use this field at all for your scenario
so you could only use the total shelf life field. In this case you have to enter the production date in when doing the receipt, SAP will then calculate the SLED.
I do not know if there is a chance with a user exit to carry out your 50% remaining shelf life calculation and move it either to QI or blocked.
But you can receive it into unrestricted use stock.
Transaction QA07 can then monitor the remaining shelf life and automatically move it to blocked stock, or to QI stock if recuring inspection method is maintained in your material master QM view.
Of course this QA07 can be scheduled to run automatically once a day.

Thank you, Jürgen, for your explanation.
If we were to schedule an automatic run of QA07 multiple times/day, it sounds like we could monitor the shelf life of any batch material that was received into unrestricted stock and have it moved to blocked or QI and accomplish our goal, as long as we are maintaining the required information on the QM view for the material.
I will look into this and see if it meets the needs of our users.
Thanks...Russ
