Does anyone know of a way to search for a users UniqueID from a DisplayName. I have tried using the SearchUser method but this only allows for you to search for a user using their UniqueID.
Well, I guess only way I see is to search for "*" and iterate through the results to find a match yourself.
Can I ask how you got to a state where you only have the Display Name and not the Unique ID? It seems to me that all functions return and take Unique ID...
I need to find the userid from the display name because I want a user to type a name and then search the ADS for all matches. The user will then be able to select a matching user and the system will then kick off some workflow using the selected users email, department etc.
I have now solved the porblem by searching the ADS using the DirectoryServices in C#.
