Memory issue with AS ERP 6.0/NW 7.01 on Windows server 2008

29 Views

Hello all,

I'm a beginner in SAP installation. That was a little bit complicated, but I've succeeded to make it working (see this thread)

While performing fist steps post-installation, I have always the same issue:

I run t-code SGEN to generate all modules in client 000 of my IDES system. This leads to slowdown Windows server performances, and others errors:

  • While trying to logon with SAPGUI 730, an error message popup "The paging file is too small for this operation to complete"
  • While login to from another computer from LAN, sometimes I get "Roll area too small" in SAPGUI
  • While running, the AS completely blocks the Windows server. No command responding. I am obliged each time to reboot the system to resume regeneration (SGEN). I know this is not optimal for my machine, so I'm looking for a reason for this.

So, can somebody help me to understand what is happening, and correctly configure my Windows server, SQL server and SAP AS to work fine

Please give me specific technical details, I am not a computer expert. 😊

Configuration:

Windows server 2008 Entreprise R2 x64

SQL Server 2008 Full edition x64

RAM= 4096 MB

Paging file set in Windows Server: Initial size= 1xRAM= 4096, maximum size=3xRAM= 12288
