SAP ByDesign - It's time to unleash the developers

Recently I have seen a budding crop of talented developers getting into the ByD space.

But once they learn the basics of development in the ByD Studio, innovation comes to a grinding halt.

Why?

The Public Solution Model is so locked down by SAP, and the UI is so under-prepared for extension that even the most seasoned ByD developer hits a brick wall. It's no wonder the most exciting solutions are integrations to other solutions.

I would like to see SAP engage in a second wave of opening up the ByD PaaS. (The first wave was the SDK itself).

My proposal is simple:

1) Make every business object extensible, including elements, nodes, and associations.

2) Make every UI extensible, with property control and UI scripting enabled for extension fields.

Months ago we we're promised a more open PSM. But it never happened.

Maybe they're dedicating resources to Financials OnDemand, which I think will be a massive flop. SAP could enable us to make ByD the standard for hundreds of niche industries, but has not. Why?
