Tool Life monitoring through the Number of goods received (GR)

Hello,

I have a scenario. My customer is a OEM manufacturer (X). Vendors supplies different component parts.

Customer company buys TOOLs from other manufacturers and supplies to the vendors for producing the component. Ownership of the tool is with the customer (X) only.

Each vendor will use the tool to produce the component and supply to the customer (X).

Customer wants to monitor the TOOL life through the number of component received for vendor (through GRN quantity).

Is it possible to map it in SAP?

I know through measuring points and confirming a order we can update the PRT life, but in this case the PRT will be used by vendors not by the parent company (customer X).

Here how you are making GRN??

This is not Production GR. If it is production GR, using Routing, Measuring points (as you mentioned), you can update the measurement document.

Check for user exit for GRN & update your coding to create measurement document (provided you have the option to give equipment number in GRN).

Hi Maheswaran,

Suppliers are fixed here and Each supplier suplies a particular component.

To help the supplier produce the same we provide them with the TOOL / Fixture.

While receiving the copmonent from a specific supplier, system should calculate the number of component received with the tool life (allowed number of components that can be produced with in the life time of the tool).

Example:

component:   FRAME

Tool/Fixture life :  10,000 nos of FRAME

GRN : 100 nos

Remaining Tool Life: (10,000 - 100)= 9900 Nos

I have understood your question from your initial post itself.

I asked you that how you doing GRN?? Are you creating any PO for that material FRAME??

If you following PO, GRN process, Check the user exit for MIGO transaction.

Create the Equipment for the tool. Maintain the measuring point with useful life as target value. In the MIGO user exit, create the measurement document for that measuring point. Once it reaches the target value, you can update the user status as Not to be used in equipment master.
