Analysis for MS Office

Does anyone have any further info. on Analysis for MS Office 1.2 / 1.3 additional to Admin guides.

I would like more information on how and where the processing is done as I am trying to troubleshoot some performance issues with a client.

For example, when retrieving a BW cube \ query, or doing a calculation, where is the processing taking place, is the work being done client \ server side, etc..

Thanks, Matt.

    Hi Matthew,

I do not entirely agree with Ajay comments as we are busy running a Pilot on AO and we have found when searching a Hierarchy on for example our Profit centre which is a large structure the search takes a long time where if we do the exact same search in BEx we get a very quick response.

We are currently looking through all the notes and will attempt to correct this by applying them to our BW environment.

      Hi ,

Got there in the end, thank you.

I had to change the value in the file below from 1 to 3.

      C:\Users\me\AppData\Roaming\SAP AG\SAP BusinessObjects Advanced Analysis\Settings\DataSource\PreferredPlatform.xml

This enabled the skip button (2 also took me straight to the BW data source).

      Regards, Matt.

The tools work exactly the same as BEx. The queries are executed on the back-en and then the aggregated results comes back to the PC and uses the PC's resource to all the Analysis until you hit refresh.

The only thing you can do is enable SAP tracing to see the process in the back-end and use Task Manger to watch the processes happening locally.
